Vacation - Part 1 - Fort Riley to Flagstaff , AZ

Hi family and friends - we're back from our road trip!! Whew! I really hope it will be the last one that the kids and I will take without John :o)

Some interesting numbers about our trip:
- 3,700 miles traveled
- 255 pictures taken
- 17 days - May 20th through June 5th
- 6 states - Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, (New Mexico again), Texas, Oklahoma, and back to Kansas.
- 17 different stops and attractions:
Garden of the Gods (Colorado Springs, CO),
Natural History Museum (Albuquerque, NM), Aquarium (Albuquerque, NM),
Sunset Volcano Crater (Flagstaff, AZ), Watakupi Pueblo (Flagstaff, AZ),
Grand Canyon South Rim (Grand Canyon, AZ),
Railroad Park (Scottsdale, AZ), Reid Park Zoo (Tucson, AZ), Pinnacle Peak/Trail Dust Town (Tucson, AZ), Old Tucson Studios (Tucson, AZ), Mission San Xavier del Bac (Tucson, AZ), Tucson Mall (Tucson, AZ),
Museum of Art (El Paso, TX),
Riverwalk Boat Ride & Rainforest Cafe (San Antonio, TX),
Zoo (Houston, TX), The Woodlands Mall (Houston, TX),
and a fabulously fun lunch with another wife from our unit in Dallas, TX!

Our adventure included waiting out a violent wind/dust storm in Winslow, Arizona - God was surely watching over us and led me to a very nice truck stop to wait it out. Thank goodness for the DVD player for the kids to watch! We definitely we "Takin' It Easy!" ha-ha-ha :o)

So, here come the pictures - just a few not all 255!

Watkupi Pueblo, Flagstaff, AZ - Mom and I took the kids to the Sunset Crater and Watkupi Pueblo. This pueblo had over 100 rooms in just this one structure alone. The kids found one room that was for storage - they called it a garage, and another that was for the men to smoke pipes and relax - they called it a man cave! Nana and I had a good laugh over their descriptions!
