Prompt: What famous person in history do you wish you could speak with on the telephone? Write a question you would ask and how the person might respond. Use quotation marks, commas, question marks, and exclamation points correctly.
Grace's response:
Christifer Columbus (Christopher Columbus)
If I could talk to Christifer Columbus, I would ask him how he found his way.
He would respond, "A lot of courage, and a pinch of luck."
I would also ask him if he had a compass to help navagate (navigate). He would probably answer, "I did have a compass on board."
"Even of all the wild ocean threats, were you brave?"
He would answer, "A bit afraid, but not for long. I found my courage when I thought about on my side was Queen Isabelle of all England (Spain)."
What were your ship names?
"The Pinta, the Nina, and the Santa Maria."
Who gave you the ships?
"Queen Isabelle gave me the ships to go on my journey."
Where were you planning to go?
"I was planning to journey to Asia faster than a desert caravan."
You have an interesting story.
"Yes, I do indeed. Bye! Bye!"
(I wish you could see the cute picture of the Santa Maria that Grace drew at the bottom).

Pretty Wings - A Riddle Poem
Pretty Wings - A Riddle Poem by Grace Elizabeth Denson
I float along with the wind.
You just might see me on a flower.
Guess where I'm headed.
Have you guessed what I am?
I'm a butterfly heading south to Mexico.

You just might see me on a flower.
Guess where I'm headed.
Have you guessed what I am?
I'm a butterfly heading south to Mexico.

Grace's Essay
Grace wrote an all-new and excellent essay today!
Prompt: If you could be any animal, which animal would you be, and why?
My Whale Story - by Grace Elizabeth Denson
If I could be any animal on Earth, I would be a blue whale, and here's why. I would be the biggest animal in the world. I would enjoy that because I could be at the very top of the food chain. I would have lots of teeth so I could eat a lot of food.
If I were a blue whale, I would want to see the bottom of the ocean because it's different from up near the surface. I would like to see some new animals. I would want to see an anglerfish! But if it chased me, I would swim as fast as I could up to the surface.
I would also want to be a whale because I could use echo-location. I would use echo-location, because I wouldn't have great eyesight. I would also be a blue whale because whales make lots of interesting sounds. And if I were a male, I could sing whale songs to attract a mate.

Katharine's birthday
She didn't actually blow out the candle, she just kept spitting at it.
Mommy tried to discreetly blow it out from the side, but that didn't work either.
Grace and I ended up blowing it out together.

Grace and I ended up blowing it out together.
The presents were piled high on the microwave.
Katharine discovered them around 7:30 a.m. and decided to help herself.
She pulled a chair in from the dining room and climbed up and picked one out.
She brought it upstairs to Mommy (sleeping in bed) and said "Look! Present!"
Mommy gasped and got out of bed right away! Ahhh, the joys of parenting....
Katharine's new kitchen set! I put it together with some help from Joseph.
She has already served 60 cups of pretend tea, 48 pretend peanut butter sandwiches, and 15 plates of pretend fried chicken.
And 2 sent over the webcam to her Daddy!
